The Weekly Upper Room Lunch/Study

A new approach to Bible study will begin Thursday, January 8th, a noon. Pastor Doug will be leading the those interested in a study of the Old and the New Testament readings that will be used the following Sunday. Bring a lunch if you’d like and a Bible-no homework needed. We will read and comment on the same verses will will hear on Sunday.

Pastor Doug has participated in this type of weekly gathering for years and has found that it can bring a deeper understanding to the scriptures and the sermon. But he has found the real benefit is not from the insights in the sermon but that through the reading, reflection on the scriptures and prayerful engagement with God the divine message of God resonates in ones heart. This spiritual discipline encourages believers to move beyond simply understanding the text to experiencing a transformative encounter with the sacred.
